SendFile

I’ve put an experimental version of SendFile into the test folder. This version scans ~/Downloads as well as ~/Media/Documents. It’s meant to be used with the Safari download plug-in. Feedback appreciated.

This works very well Erica, thanks. I’m using the HistoryDL method instead of the FileDownloadPlugin, but of course it doesn’t matter how the file gets there, as long as it’s in one of the accepted locations.
One welcome addition would be to add a Stop Playing option.

Doesn’t work for me. Sebdfile crashes when I try to send a file. I tried .jpeg and amr files.
I’m using FW 1.1.2 (AnySIM1.2u).

works great, only real issues, are of course, more advanced playback (play/pause, volume etc.) I also made my own icon for it, supossted to be like a ‘limewire’ sort of thing. Thanks a lot!

Erica, I just discovered another pretty nasty “side-effect” of the FileDownloadPlugin. It also prevents email attachments that are normally displayable on the phone from working! This includes pdf, doc, xls and probably the rest as well. I quit after testing those 3.
I verified this in the following way:
With the plug-in uninstalled, and a fresh restart, I sent myself 3 emails, each containing 1 of those types. They all displayed fine. Then I installed the plug-in and restarted the phone. Now, none of them would display, I just got a lego/? icon where the attachment would be. Next, I untinstalled the plug-in and restarted. They all worked again.
Seems fairly logical to me, after all the folder is called “Internet Plug-Ins”!
The good news aspect of this, is there’s a chance the plug-in author may figure out how to harness this to download email attachments. But for now, I’m leaving the plug-in uninstalled.

I don’t know if I’m missing something but I can’t figure out how to play the mp3s from sendfile. Also it crashes everytime I try to email a file

I received a response that my comment above about the FileDownloadPlugin “side-effect” is untrue, so I reinstalled the plug-in and retested. Sure enough, it works fine now. I’d hate to mislead people, but I can’t edit or remove my previous post, so I’d appreciate it if you would. Sorry for the misinformation.
