Swift 3.0 is released

Raise a glass, everyone! Ted Kremenek writes on swift.org

Swift 3.0, the first major release of Swift since it was open-sourced, is now officially released! Swift 3 is a huge release containing major improvements and refinements to the core language and Standard Library, major additions to the Linux port of Swift, and the first official release of theĀ Swift Package Manager.

Congrats to the whole Swift Team and all the volunteers on Swift Evolution, Swift Dev, Swift Build Dev, and everyone else who pitched into the effort.

I’m finishing up edits on Swift 2 to 3, and it should hit the Bookstore within the next few days.

  • I loved your book on “Playgrounds secrets”. Waiting for the “2 to 3”. Do you intend to write a book on Playgrounds on iPad ? Will be very useful for teacher !
Best regards and thank you again for your very nice books

    • Check iBooks or LeanPub for the latest Playground Secrets update, which covers how to use iPads. What I don’t cover is specifically authoring iOS Swift Playground Books, as it seemed too unstable a topic, and outside the scope of actually using the playgrounds.
