On Lion 10.7.3, I see the same behaviour as Giles but noticed this (with the latter 3 msgs repeated with incrementing sockets) in the Console log:
15/03/2012 22:16:24.969 AirPlayer: Established AirPlay service on port 7000
15/03/2012 22:21:10.039 AirPlayer: Accepting new socket
15/03/2012 22:21:10.040 AirPlayer: Connected to 192.168.0.3:65118
15/03/2012 22:21:10.043 AirPlayer: Error: Could not match socket to a role. Missing status line.

Also, fwiw, while I'm able to target AirPlayer (on 10.6.8) from the iOS Videos app on both a 1st-gen and 2nd-gen iPad, AirPlay Mirroring in iOS 5 (on the 2nd-gen iPad) gets no visible response from AirPlayer. Perhaps the AirPlay spec has changed?

Thanks again for sharing your cool AirPlay experiments.

I'm trying to use AirPlayer 0.28 on Lion 10.7.2 to receive AirPlay content from an iPad (1st-gen, iOS 5.0.1 (9A405).

AirPlayer launches with no issues. However, when I choose my mac from the AirPlay menu on my iPad (in the iOS Videos app), I get "The operation could not be completed – OK" error, and playback stops. No content ever appears in the AirPlayer app, but nor do any errors.

Have you been able to successfully use AirPlayer 0.28 in Lion with an iOS 5 device, and/or do you have any suggestions?

Thank you very much,
Giles

Hi Erica,

I guess you've read the news about AirPort Express private key pulled out.
Does that mean you'll be able to use it to have music streamed into the AirPlayer? If so, are you intend to work on it?

Thanks for the great product so far,

Gal.
