Is there any chance of syncing with the OSX mail app todo list? or a Desktop app to sync with if that’s not possible?

Comment by Erica Sadun | July 15, 2009 | 8:28 pm

Wouldn’t be hard. But I’m clueless as to which desktop app…

Very nicely done. Clean.

It’s a long story, but this pleasantly reminds me of a HyperCard stack I wrote back during the last century, maybe around 1988.

Would you be interested in some GUI suggestions, some of them based on my lessons I learned from the stack I programmed? I *could* leave them here as a feature requests but I’d rather email them and be able to kick some thoughts back and forth with you.

Here or e-mail, both are fine.

Erica, did you ever consider the possibility of releasing ToDo’s source code ? This could be very useful for people who bought your book, to complete the learning. People can still donate to you or your suggested foundation, indeed would encourage to make donation, imho. Anyway many thanks for all your efforts.

After update to To Do 3.0, the To Do option in the iPhone Settings menu displays without it’s icon. I’ve tried deleting the app from iPhone & reinstalling but I get the same thing. I notice setting options are the same as from within the app, so it seems redundant anyway. Is this a bug?

After upgrading to iPhone OS 3.0, the app was not working right. So thank you so much for updating this app to make it work again.

Second, there is a bug I want to bring to light. When I am creating a new item and I get a visual alert from another app, the device would be in a stuck state. Because I am on the keyboard when the alert happens, the keyboard is actually on top of the alert, prohibiting me from getting rid of the new item or responding to the alert. It’s hard to explain, so let me set up a scenario you can use to recreate it:

Use the fring app to help you do this. Create a new item on To Do but leave it there so that the keyboard stays up. Now have someone send you an IM via fring, voila you’ll recreate the scenario.

Unfortunately, that’s an Apple bug not an Erica bug. Please file a radar at bugreport.apple.com

Erica,
As commented above To Do icon doesn’t show in iPhone Settings menu. please advise.
Thanks

I’m in the process of eliminating the settings entirely. I’ve moved them all in-app. Hopefully Apple will approve that update momentarily.

In ’settings’ what is badging? - it has an on/off possibility

Sets a badge on the application icon: # of items left to do

I’ve upgraded to To Do 3.2, but i still get To Do settings in the iPhone settings menu with NO icon. I’ve tried removing To Do from both my iPhone and iTunes, then reinstalling, but it’s the same. I’m just wondering if this is a problem with my phone, or it’s an error in the application?

beautiful! I like this.

just one thing. I have international input method enabled (japanese) - somehow To Do does not allow me to switch between English / Japanese input methods as it does not show the globe icon on the virtual keyboard panel which is supposed to show up immediately left to the space bar. how could it be? — just curious. not a big issue :)

Comment by Erica Sadun | August 21, 2009 | 4:58 pm

I don’t really have any problems using international keyboards (http://www.grabup.com/uploads/4bef2d096fc22fba2ec1752e364c2150.tiff)

Maybe you accidentally switched the Japanese kbd off?

Comment by kkonaka | August 24, 2009 | 12:24 pm

thank you for the feedback.

it looks as if

- “Edit To Do Item” and “New Item” does not show language switch option

but

- in “Item Notes” the language switch option is just fine (to display the globe icon)

I’m pretty much new to iPhone (simplistic user of just a month so far) let me double check what is going on…

I’ve used your Todo app for iPhone/iPod Touch for some time and have some comments.
- please adhere to the international settings when displaying dates and times (i.e., American is confusing)
- could we have landscape mode too?
- sorting should be automatic, once set
- please do not automatically capitalise words in headers… all of us do not write English where this is sometimes done (but then not for all words, note).

Otherwise… keep up the good work, I will continue to use the app!

I just downloaded the app and I was poking around. I tried the email todo link and could not cancel out of it. I am using iPhone software version 3.1.2 (7D11).

Thanks.

“please adhere to the international settings when displaying dates and times (i.e., American is confusing)”

Please, please, pretty please do this.

Only now I have started using the Due Date option, and I love it (I love this app, it was the first one I installed in my iphone when I got it and is certainly the most useful one, and I love how simple it is) and is really confusing having the month/day/year format.

First of all thanks for creating a simple, efficient and free app that I get daily use out of.

I’d like to see support for landscape keyboard typing and an option to to customize two small behaviors; the capitalization of every word in the to do list item and the spacing between items so that more can fit on one page.

These features would make this app perfect for me. Thanks!

I found a bug which displays a wrong year. For example if 12-27-2009 is selected, it displays 12/27/10 instead of 09.

I guess that usage of strftime() is a wrong. Do you use “%g” for year instead of “%y”?
