Just wanted to confirm that the Saurik fixes still work on 3.0. Just tested on device and iPhone.

Nice job on the books Erica. Can’t wait for the 3.0 version. As a Noobie your book moved me months ahead on my learning curve. I am interested in a tableview list that clicks to a URL.
I loaded the sample file from Chapter 5: Creating Complex Cells recipe. I tried to run it in Xcode via the 3.0 simulator. It opened to a blank list view. The cells are there but no text. Is there a tweak for the data code to run in 3.0? I successfully ran it in 2.2.

Thanks!

hi
i am using the CoverFlow sample code in my application.

The cover flow paint images that arrived from the network.
Until the images arrived i use place holder image (coming soon image).
The Place holder image is replaced upon image arrival from network.
The new image redraw only after touching the screen.

I was wondering how can i redraw those images upon arrive without touching the screen.

regards
Tamir

I think the CoverFlow App is broke again with the latest iPhone release GM (7A341) when compile for the 3.0 simulator. The same code works with the 2.2.1 simulator. The UICoverFlowLayer.h appears to be the same between the two versions. I get EXC_BAD_ACCESS exception in CoverViewController.m (line 247) with call to self.cfView.cfLayer.
I was actually eager to just play around with it in an App I’m doing for 3.0 even though I know it won’t be accepted for the App Store. Seem’s ridiculous on Apples part not to support a public CoverFlow API in the latest release.

regards…

Are you planning to update your application, “To Do” so that it can work with the iPhone 3.0 software? Individual To Do items still come up, but their details are hidden now.

@frost

I just found out that one of the changes-under-the-hub to 3.0 from before is that a cover flow needs at least 7 items. Any number below will give a crash just as you describe.

If you want Cover Flow that is approved by Apple use this:
http://apparentlogic.com/openflow/
This is really good code, and uses the Quartz graphics to do the cover flow. It needs a flip view much like iTunes so if you click on the photo the view would flip to the back side with additional info. Other than this is great code!

I just downloaded the cover flow example from the 2.2 code base from:

http://code.google.com/p/cookbooksamples/downloads/list

and it bombs under 3.0:

Application Specific Information:
iPhone Simulator 3.0 (138), iPhone OS 3.0 (7A341)
