New: To-Do List Manager for the SDK
Erica Sadun | 2:51 pm | March 7, 2008 | Simulator, Update, Applications, Software
If you’ve installed the SDK, you can download and run a copy of my iPhone To-Do list software from my new SDK application folder. It’s basically my old ToDo list app ported to the new SDK, which took far longer than I honestly thought it would. No re-ordering yet on cells. When we either soft-upgrade to 1.2, or get an Apple 1.2 firmware upgrade, it should be able to run natively. For now, the point was to get a program running, figure out how to distribute and install it (instructions are on the linked page) so that it could be tested and used in the wild. So, you know, like “Yay!”

Are you going to release the source?
Thanks!

I too was wondering about the source. I was hoping to learn some useful tips from it.
Took me ages to log in, WordPress gives an “invalid password” error if you don’t type your username in the right case. Grrrr.

Found a bug —
Description - the arrow that allows you to enter/edit info about the To-Do item sometime does not work
How to produce -
1. Create a to-do
2. Add information to the to-do
3. go back to to-do list
4. verify that you can go back to the info you just entered (use the arrow button)
5. back to to-do list
6. click on the Edit button
7. toggle an item so the “delete” button shows up
8. toggle it again to remove the “delete” button
9. back to the to-do list
10. now try and look at the info you entered back in step 2 using the arrow button
Results - the popup for Priority/Complete pops up. You cannot see the info you put in for any task.
At least that is what happens on my Aspen Simulator

Hi Erica! I’m new to all this.
I’ve downloaded the iPhone SDK and Xcode 3.1 that came with it.
I just downloaded your ToDo App and followed your instructions, but I still can’t see it in the Aspen Simulator
Any ideas?

I’d love a To-Do organizer like the insanely great collapsible outliner from Apple’s Newton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Newton#Notes). Nothing could be better, especially on a small screen, for organizing thoughts, priorities, sub-tasks, etc.

Hi Erica,
Congrats on your accomplishment of developing the first iPhone app. I found your site from Ephraim Schwartz at InfoWorld at http://weblog.infoworld.com/realitycheck/archives/2008/03/first_iphone_ap.html
BTW, are you the same Erica Sadun who was also famous on rec.arts.sf.robert_jordan newsgroup?
I am a former inhabitant of that world.
best wishes,
jjvors

I too would like to see the source. Is there a reason why you’re not publishing?

Hi Erica,
I am baffled as to why there does not appear to be a simple to-do App for the iPhone that simply syncs with the iCal to-do list (2-way sync)
Am I missing something here? Or is there some technical reason why that would be difficult.
Thanks,
Eric
