I’ve been hard at work all week, upgrading my software to 113. As a consequence of the iTouch’s 113 application support, I’ve decided to merge the Erica Utilities with the Erica iPhone Utilities–one less package to maintain. The new merged utilities start with Erica Utilities 0.60.
Look for 113 versions of my apps in each of this site’s folders. I’m working with Shaun Erickson to package the updated versions into Installer.
If there is something that these last few days taught me it’s that it’s probably easier to write one fabulous great package than to maintain several dozen small ones. Please forgive me if I overlooked your favorite program–an email this morning reminded me about updating Make It Mine, a utility that I had completely overlooked. I’d intended MIM as a silly throw-away and I’m surprised at how many people continue to use and enjoy it.

In anticipation of the upcoming SDK, I’ve set up a mail-based iPhoneSDK list. Feel free to join in even pre-SDK to discuss development-related issues. This is a development-only list and any other topics will be off-limit.

Search the iTunes Music Store from the command line with itmsearch. It takes one argument, the string to search for. I compiled this using 1.1.3 frameworks so it may not work on earlier systems. Just think–one more thing to look forward to!

The new framework docs are uploading. No jailbreaking was involved so this is a partial upload at best.

I’ve uploaded three new Mac utilities intended to help with touch/iPhone backups.
blist. Run this in any of your ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup folders. It lists what each mdbackup file backs up.
bdump. Extracts the property list portion of an mdbackup file. It does not checking to see whether there’s actually a plist *in* the mdbackup, so use with care.
bload. Inserts a property list into the Data segment of an mdbackup file. Again, use with care and only if you know what you’re doing.
Between bdump and bload, you can extract a property list, edit it by hand and re-insert it into the mdbackup format.

The intl utility toggles your iPhone’s International settings from on to off or off to on. Use restart to make the changes take effect. By default, the iPhone sets this to off.

After talking to Gracenote, I have discovered several things. First, that their Track ID service is not available for noncommercial licensing. Second, that the costs for commercial licensing is beyond the amount to which I can possibly be committed to.
If you don’t mind spending $1 a shot, you can use your iPhone for music ID. Dial #43 (that is #ID). You won’t be charged for songs that the service fails to identify.

Quite a lot of changes to Dress Up:
Multi-wardrobe support. After stopping a frame, you can now go back to the wardrobe and add more costumes.
“Dismiss Mode”. You can now switch from move mode (where you move around the costume elements) to dismiss mode (a tap removes costumes). Use this to clean up your picture before snapping it.
Clean picture taking. I now hide the status bar and the navigation bars before snapping pictures.
Snap to Album. By request, you can now snap photos to your album rather than just sending them by email.
Feedback solicited in the comments.
