HI!
I am using VNotes v0.23 and I need to transfer some of my voice notes to my laptop. I tried doing it using iPhoneBroswer but it didnt work. I tried using iPhoneBrowser v1.4.0.0 but it would trasnfer only about 2 minutes of the file. Can you please suggest the best way to transfer the files?

Hello,

Every time, after I used VoiceNotes, the speakers of my iphone sounds weird. To get the normal sound back, I need to restart the iPhone. Same problem with all the version of VNotes. I have a 1.1.1 firmware.

Hi, Erica,

I have never been able to get Voice Notes to work on my iPhone. I hear nothing but silence on playback, have tried various versions, and I experience occasional iPhone crashes when I hit “stop recording.”

I’m presently using 1.1.2 firmware, have BSD Subsystem installed, and I’ve tried installing VN with both installer.app and manually through iphone browser.

Out of things to try. . .Any suggestions?

Hello Erica,

I just installed Vnotes 0.30 to my iPhone 1.1.1 and it worked for about 3 minutes then crashed my phone. I also noticed that when you start using it, it messes up your iPhone’s system sounds (makes them sound “muddy” or “muffled”).

The same thing happened when I tried to install VNotes 0.23, and had to uninstall that as well. I was hoping that this version would work with 1.1.1, doesn’t look like I can use it. I hope someone out there has better luck!

Hi Erica–

I just acquired a 1.1.0 iPhone for Christmas!! Yea! And though I’m new to it, I learn fast and have already updated to 1.1.1 and unlocked the phone. I’m using Installer (version 3) and have installed Erica’s Utilities 0.53. When I did so, I received a message along the lines of needing to alter(?) a path to var/root/bin (or something like that. I’d appreciate you or anyone else pointing me to a resources that tells me how to go about getting the path straightened out so I can access and use VNotes. Thanks!

The problem with “muffly” sounds has something to do with the settings that VoiceNotes samples audio at. I think it either sets the bitrate, or sampling rate, or both, down when it records, and then sometimes doesn’t set the rate back up when it finishes.

After I use VoiceNotes, I play a song in iPod, and this resets things back where they should be, fixing the muffled system sounds. Hopefully Erica can narrow the real bug down and eliminate it later.

…and by the way, that first bit was conjecture. I’ve not looked at the VoiceNotes source so, I might be a big fat idiot. But the iPod thing still fixes it for me.

Vnotes crashes my ipod as well. it does a number on openSSH (probably because it’s running while the ipod crashes). Every time I hit stop recording the ipod completely crashes and reboots. It was working for a while, then I did a restore… put everything to a similar state, made the correct permission changes to all folders, but this time it continually crashed.

I need help because i have never been able to get Voice Notes to work on my iPhone. I hear nothing but silence, or very low weird sounds on playback. I have tried using earphones too but the only difference that the weird low sounds on playback are little louder.
I experience occasional iPhone crashes too when I hit “stop recording.”

I’m presently using 1.1.1 firmware, have BSD Subsystem installed.
Microphone of Iphone works very good during phone calls.
I can play other amr files if i receive them in Iphone email.

Out of things to try. . .Any suggestions?

You might try uninstalling the download plug-in (which can overlap with QuickTime functionality)

Erica, can you plase explain me easily how to uninstall the download plug-in (do you mean in Safari)?
When i use Seepod with Safari, quicktime works very well with songs mp3 in streaming

Great App. I would really love it if you could add a red icon indicating number of messages still in VN. I find I record a message or a to do note and forget about it. A simple icon would be brilliant- similar to unread emails etc.

Erica, i can send you the .amr files…still not working…if it can help solve my problem.
I really dont know what happen to my Iphone…and Audio recognition (listen) too is not working…
It’s not able to produce amr files from mic (and earphones) it seems….What can i do?

Vnotes crashes constantly regardless of whether the download plugin is installed…could it be an issue with clipping? i’ve noteiced that when i record louder noise is usually when it crashes. but it could be coincidence.

Hello Erica,

unfortunately I find out right now, that voicenotes doesn´t work to me anymore!!! I have already had the problem with mic (no sound was playing - recording) when I used fw 1.1.1, however I solved this problem with upgrading to 1.1.2…then everything was working, but now (after installing VoiceNotes 0.3) I have the same problem again - no sound is recording…I tried to uninstall new version of voicenotes and install all older version, but nothing helps…please could you help???I love this app, but don´t want to make restore, downgrade etc.
