Voice Notes is live

Erica Sadun | 2:45 pm | October 16, 2007 | Applications, Software, iPhone

I’ve gotten my new VoiceNotes folder up and running on ericasadun.com. Voice Notes allows you to record, play and share voice memos. It offers interactive memo recording using your iPhone’s built-in microphone and speaker.

This has got to be my favorite iPhone application ever. And it is, pretty much, an iPhone-only application. It will crash your iPod touch if you try to record on it.

Best of all, the 1.1.1 MobileMail update now plays amr natively. So you can record, send and listen from email directly on your iPhone.

Great app!

I’m not sure if this is feasible, would it be possible to record phone calls with an app like this? Recording voice is cool….recording phone calls is cooler!

Mobile Telephony cuts off the voice recorder unfortunately. Can’t do it onboard the iPhone.

Perhaps an option to launch the recorder once your already in a call?

If you can launch the application during a phone call and begin recording, that would be ideal.

Or does the iPhone lock that ability?

Erica,

What happened to the “Send To Voicemail” option?

I killed “send to voicemail”. It was always flaky and I only added it for NerveGas who, when discovering you could actually play back sounds in the program added, “never mind then’

I just installed this today on a jailbreaked locked UK 1.1.2 iphone but whenever I record a note and press the ‘finish’ button it causes my iphone to reboot.

After the reboot the voice recording appears to be there but when played it seems to be a blank recording which only lasts for a fraction of a second.

Is this a known issue and is there anything I can do about it? Thanks for the great software!

I’ve encountered the reboot thing a few times but I’m not sure yet why it happens…

Thanks for the reply Erica. I’ve just installed the new 0.23 version and it no longer reboots, but recording doesn’t work either. When I press play nothing happens (the buttons scroll offscreen, but no sound comes out of the speaker/earpiece (I don’t even know which one the sound is supposed to come out of :-)

If I email the file to myself I receive a 6 byte AMR file.

After reading Stuart’s comment on the Voicenotes 0.23 announcement post I also tried installed Utilities 0.51 and reinstalling Voicenotes, but no difference.

Thanks for any suggestion!

Hrmm, after a reboot of the phone Voicenotes reverts to the previous behaviour, i.e. rebooting the whole phone when I cilck ‘finish recording’.
